Are you Cynical or Stoical about the Budget 2009?
I quite like a Cynic’s view of the budget:
New spending will come in before the next Election.
New taxation to pay for it will come in afterwards.
New promises “to increase efficiency”, “create new industries” etc will sound as if they come in before the Election, but in fact will come in afterwards.
New goals along the lines of “the Government will achieve” will in fact be dated to be fulfilled by future Governments.
Retirement packages for Ministers will not be reduced.
All of this will be in the pages of small print, where page no > 50.
Her Majesties Customs and Revenue will not get smaller today.
And a Stoic’s view:
Sigh !
Nick Robinson on Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling - summarised
