The BNP video operation has an unerring sense of accuracy, guaranteeing that their presentation will land precisely in the middle of the largest cowpat they can find (do you remember Billy the Brit).
Anyhow, this is Nick Griffin trying to remember the Christmas Story. No particular mention of refugees or the Holy Family finding refuge in foreign lands from tyrants, of course.
During yesterday’s Question Time programme, Nick Griffin attacked Jack Straw on the basis that his own father was an RAF pilot, while Jack Straw’s father William was a Conscientious Objector.
My view is that the Peace Pledge Union in the 1930s in their campaign for appeasement were as badly self-deceived as CND were in the 1980s in their support for unilateral nuclear disarmament.
If the Peace Pledge Union had succeeded I don’t see how a democratic tradition in this country (and the rest of Europe) could have survived.
I’d also note that much of the British political establishment in the 1930s fell for the notion that Hitler’s Germany was less of a threat than was actually the case
But none of that is a reason to attack politicians or anybody else because of actions that are their parents, not their own.
We are all responsible for our own views, and in this attack was Nick Griffin shot himself in the foot.
This is a short study of aspects of the BNP Constitution relating to Party Governance and policymaking machinery. The PDF version (120k) can be downloaded here.
The BNP has recently been under pressure due to the spotlight being placed on the parts of its Constitution which make distinctions based on race. Nick Griffin has stated that he will attempt to have these clauses changed via a “General Members Meeting”.
This Briefing aims to show that essentially all the party machinery can be controlled directly and personally by the National Chairman (Leader) of the Party, and that claims to a normal, democratic, independent decision-making role for the party membership have no basis.
Fascinating questions come to mind, such as what would happen to the BNP if Nick Griffin changed his views; he would really be quite difficult to eject from the party.
I suggest that it is time to broaden the scrutiny of the BNP beyond questions of race.
From Wikileaks:
The British National Party (BNP) is a right wing ethno-nationalist party, best known for its policy of ridding Britain of ethnically non-white migrants, although it has a broad, if somewhat ad-hoc, agenda of promoting the perceived interests of socially or economically marginalized British whites.
There are slightly over 16,000 unique membership numbers in the “April 15 Updated” spreadsheet, and based on membership number ID’s, around 35,000 memberships ever awarded.
Wikileaks notes that 100,000 has been added to all Membership Numbers, so all new members have a card which a Membership No. above 133,000.
The Guardian has more background.
