Rebecca Adlington to have official website

Rebecca Adlington to have official website

I live a few miles from Mansfield, and published a series of articles about Rebecca Adlington winning a pair of Gold Medals in the Olympics back in August last year.

I hear that there is going to be an official Rebecca Adlington website appearing soon.

Hopefully it will have some of the superb Adlington quotes (unlike everybody else who were shut up by the Chinese government, even arrested, especially:

‘A statue of me? With these shoulders?’

and

“Oh my God! That would be just sooooooo amaaaaaazing!” says Rebecca Adlington, double Olympic swimming champion, about the prospect of appearing on her “favourite, favourite” television programme.

“I’d absolutely love to do Strictly Come Dancing,”? she says. “I don’t dance at all, but I watch it every time it’s on. It is just the best programme on television.”?

Anyway, I’ll mention it when they’ve decided on the exact web address for Rebecca Adlington dot something.

Maybe they’ll pick up my Militant about Mansfield campaign, which featured Rebecca Adlington (above) and the rest (below).

Mansfield Maintains Magnificence: Mickelson Macerated by Oliver Wilson

I can’t resist this, and I have to run it now in case Europe loses the Ryder Cup. The Shredding of Phil Mickelson:

q-clusterflock-phil-mickelsonThe 28-year-old rookie from Mansfield, who scraped into the team as an automatic qualifier, has had to put up with references to his winless career on the European Tour, nailed the kind of triumph that many a champion would kill for. A long, match-winning putt for birdie on the 17th green saw off Phil Mickelson and Anthony Kim.

Mansfield continues to be the UK’s unchallenged capital of sport:

Oliver Wilson joined Rebecca Adlington in the pantheon of Mansfield sporting greats yesterday when he sealed the final automatic place in the Ryder Cup team.

Photo: Clusterflock. For some reason the Daily Mirror can’t bring itself to print the picture of a male golfer when a blonde can be linked to the story. As Becky B might say: “What, with these shoulders?”. Oh well.

Militant about Mansfield: pro-Mansfield Blog Buttons

In the continuing post-Olympic Campaign to promote Mansfield as the Centre of the Universe, I thought we could have some blog buttons. These are for use by all pro-Mansfield websites.

The one you don’t recognise is Tony Egginton, the Mayor.

I’d add Alan Meale MP, but not without permission – he may be allergic to the word “Militant”, if I recall my political history correctly.

Beyond Rebecca Adlington: Famous People from Mansfield – Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

q-photo-mansfield-coat-of-armsRebecca Adlington has won two gold medals in swimming at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and put Mansfield back on the map. This blog is based near Mansfield, which used to be a centre of coal production where the local industry played an heroic role in resisting the UK National Miners’ Strike in 1984.

For a contrast I thought that this morning I’d introduce you to a few of our more “artistic” local heroes.
