I live a few miles from Mansfield, and published a series of articles about Rebecca Adlington winning a pair of Gold Medals in the Olympics back in August last year.

I hear that there is going to be an official Rebecca Adlington website appearing soon.

Hopefully it will have some of the superb Adlington quotes (unlike everybody else who were shut up by the Chinese government, even arrested, especially:

In the continuing post-Olympic Campaign to promote Mansfield as the Centre of the Universe, I thought we could have some blog buttons. These are for use by all pro-Mansfield websites.

The one you don’t recognise is Tony Egginton, the Mayor.

I’d add Alan Meale MP, but not without permission – he may be allergic to the word “Militant”, if I recall my political history correctly.

Rebecca Adlington has won two gold medals in swimming at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and put Mansfield back on the map. This blog is based near Mansfield, which used to be a centre of coal production where the local industry played an heroic role in resisting the UK National Miners’ Strike in 1984.

For a contrast I thought that this morning I’d introduce you to a few of our more “artistic” local heroes.
