Today has been a blogging about blogging day, which needs to be done but is a bit dry.
So it’s good to have a local news story.
The UK’s first female swimming Olympic Gold Medallist for half a century comes from just down the road from “Wardman Towers” - Mansfield in Nottinghamshire.

Mansfield has an Independent Mayor - Tony Eggington, who is now in his second term, so expect some Civic Propaganda when Becky Adlington returns.

The BBC have a good online service for Olympic coverage via the web, offering 6 channels of coverage - the same as the interactive options via satellite.
It also seesms to work reasonably well via connections with speeds as low as 512kbps, which is what I have been using.
This is one of the few times of the decade when you can watch Table Tennis in preference to Football - a small island of civilisation for a couple of weeks. And now you can do it online.
One to take advantage of, expecially if you are setup with 2 monitors and have no digital TV feed to your office.

Becky Adlington from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire has won a second Gold Medal.
Adlington, who is 19 and who won gold in the 400m freestyle a few days ago, finished 2.12 seconds quicker than the previous world record.
Rebecca Adlington’s time was 8:14.10; the previous World Record figure was set in 1989, the year when she was born.
The previous Olympic Games record was also shattered by more than 5 seconds.
