Online Symposia – Thinking about Politics
An online symposium is a series of articles from a range of viewpoints on a common subject over several days. We are experimenting with this as a way of encouraging thoughtful debate amongst bloggers and others. Each series of articles is published on the Wardman Wire, and also as a PDF download as an experiment in making blog-debate available more in a more convenient form for later readers. August 2009 – Mission and Fresh Expressions 2009: A Survey of Diocesan Resources
This is a snapshot survey of resources relating to “Fresh Expressions” on Church of England Diocesan websites in May/June 2009, compiled from a series of blog posts on Rev David Keen’s (Twitter: @davidmkeen) blog St Aidan to Abbey Manor (davidkeen.blogspot.com). It has been compiled into a PDF file by Matt Wardman (Twitter: @mattwardman), editor of the Wardman Wire at mattwardman.com, with added material. The method was to spend a short time on each Diocesan website, and to highlight resources of interest to people from outside the Diocese which were easy to find. Links are preserved and there are comments threads on the original articles where feedback can be left, and questions asked. Click through on the title of each main chapter to comment. You can Read the Article Series over at David Keen’s blog, or download the “Mission and Fresh Expressions 2009: A Survey of Diocesan Resources” PDF Report (350k).
June 2008 – Devolving England
One of the issues that is always bubbling under is devolution in the UK. While three of the four home nations have their own parliaments, England is run from Westminster, where the West Lothian Question still holds – why can Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish MPs vote on issues that do not affect them? Should we give more power to local councils, or are city regions a better way to go? Read the article series, or download the PDF (200k).
