I'm following someone who is frequently reporting about an ongoing local story and I get the feeling that his reports may even be stirring up the hornet's nest over it.

I read that as 80 per million and a typo by the Guardian.

80,000 per million is a death rate of 8%, which would not leave much poulation left...

I might be being dense, but 80 000 per million seems more than 100 per million

I think eventually the police will have some gadget which will be able to be pointed at a car and detect whether someone is texting. Or maybe the police could sit at the side of a road and be alerted when someone is texting. That would stop it!

I wonder if part of the decline in support is attributable to folk looking at the prospective government front bench and being underwhelmed. Without belabouring poor William Hague's travails too much he no longer seems to carry much credibility for his judgement or, for a self styled Yorkshireman, his straightforwardness. Osborne seems to me irretrievably lightweight, Fox does not convey overmuch decency to me, Grayling has been exposed as being, shall we say, cavalier with figures and I struggle to recall any of the rest except the wife who won't particpate in conultations about the TGV line to the north (and I can't recall her name).

The other point about the programme was that being in my 60's I can recall the campaign to present Lymeswold as an authentic english cheese and I can't get the equivalence to the myriad ways in which David Cameron's re-orientation of Toryism has been depicted out of my mind.
