Britblog Roundup #208: The Gerald The Sheep Goes North Edition
The roundup is a compendium of last week’s outstanding posts in the British Blogosphere. A little late this week, but still delectable.
Lets’ start with the Beeb this week
In the far South watch out, there’s a BBC comedic smurf about, or to paraphrase: Brand is back. Still on the BBC Costigan Quist wants to be left alone .
Mick Fealty says that the BBC needs some … er … Cojones .
Moving on to politics
In the far North, the budget has been agreed – possibly with holes .
The ThrobGoblin is interested in alternative sources of energy, while the BitchBuzz is calling on Boris Johnson to keep his promise to rape counselling services (fantastic design, by the way – click through for the full screendump).
The FWord, from somewhere vaguely middling South, is writing about Youthworkers and Porn (OK – training Youth Workers to deal with it), while John Ward wonders whether white middleaged men exist at all .
On the other hand, Scroobius asks “Excuse me ma’am, do you have a licence to drive that internet?” . It is worth a look.
Finally, Andrew Ian Dodge reminds us in politics that opprobrium can go on for a generation .
Sigh! The Lawyers are Back
In probably the most important story of the week Jeni Barnett, who had an extended “conversation” about the MMR jab on her radio show, received a sceptical reaction, threw in the lawyers in concert with her employer, and caused an explosion of coverage. Miss Prism did her bit, and there are some blunt comments.
But will Liberty come back too
OK. Two important stories. Go and read the Third Carnival on Modern Liberty from Alix.
Religion
The buses are still advertising in Camden, while the Heresiarch has a downer on Bishops (or one particular Bishop).
Arts and Life
Natalie has been catching the wind. Nearly finally, Jonathon Calder is mourning the loss of private life. And Charles is in his Blogoir .
Gerald Goes North
I’ll wrap up with a shameless bit of self-pluggery. My own blog has recently been moved to a new host so it is faster , and there are lots of new features and there will be some new contributors, including Gerald the Sheep and Carl Gardner, who writes the Head of Legal and Freelance Intellectual blogs.

Wrapping Up
Next week the roundup is at Amused Cynicism, and nominations can be sent to britblog AT gmail DOT com.
