Does the Daily Mail own the BBC?

beaubodor-bbc daily mail

It certainly does appear to, considering that it has got pretty much everything they wanted has happened.

Frankly, it is disgusting the way that the BBC has caved in to the demands of the Daily Hatemail. After all, if being offensie was enough to get sacked, there would hardly be any journalists – and certainly no columnists – in the Mail.

UPDATE: There’s also this post at CentreRight, complaining about the use of the joke “I’m now so old, my pussy is haunted” in response to the challenge “What the Queen didn’t Say in her Christmas Message” on Mock The Week.

We have lots of different channels, and no programme will ever be everyone’s cup of tea. I can’t stand most of the crap on the TV, but I accept that some do. Don’t like the programme? Don’t watch it. Simple enough.

  1. You still don’t get it do you. What did Andrew Sachs do to deserved the disgusting phone calls – if you have no empathy for other people’s feelings that’s your failing.

  2. Andrew Sachs did “deserve” it. I’m not defending what they did. But the reaction to it from Daily Hatemail readers such as yourself has been waaaaay over the top.

As I said, if being offensive was enough to get the sack, the Daily Mail shouldn’t have any columnists.

ThunderDragon´s last blog post..12 MPs and 8 days until 1984

  3. No one is defending what they did! But the Daily Heil need to give it a rest! This was all blown out of proportion! The only person who would have had the right to make a big thing out of this would be Andrew Sachs, however he took the dignified option of letting things settle down! I’m sure he doesn’t want to be reminded every day by the Daily Hate Mail! And talking of offensive, have you read the Daily Heil lately!? Talk about xenophobic, racist, homophobic bull s***!

    Errr. No.

We are all quite entitled to be interested in Messrs Brand and Ross since we employ them, just as we are entitled to be interested in yobs vandalising our city centres.

On this one the Daily Mail had the right target until they started trying to turn it into a broad anti-BBC campaign.

The thing that interests me is just how many people who can’t see what a lucky escape Radio 2 had before it imploded completely.
