Tom Harris MP Exit Interview: Spending More Time with his Blog

q-photo-tom-harris-mpIn last week’s Britblog Roundup I covered the story that Tom Harris MP, the Rail Minister, had been shown the exit door in Gordon Brown’s reshuffle.

Tom gave a superb interview to BBC Today in Parliament yesterday (10 October).

The interview went out at 11:50pm on a Friday, and will vanish into the BBC Memory Hole in 7 days, so I thought I’d post the item here. It is about 5 minutes long.

Outstanding snippets:

  • “I actually assumed I was being promoted.”
  • “‘Heaven knows I’m miserable now’ … I expect will be on my gravestone.”
  • “I have no idea why I was actually fired.”

Excellent value all round, and some extremely perceptive comments on the pros and cons, opportunities and threats of blogging for Ministers.
