“I’m a candidate, can I have three minutes to get a picture?”

Gossip time.

Enemy Infiltration

Corker. Respect.

Presumably David Cameron will now have heard of A Hilton Esq for perhaps the first time. For people who don’t reader political blogs, Alex Hilton in the photo above is the Labour candidate in the Chelsea and Fulham seat for the next General Election.

Political Hairdo Lotto

In DC’s defence, slightly bouffant hairdos of short-people at eye-level can make candidates eminently forgettable. For example, see the selection below the fold.

No, not candidates - 1 blogger and 4 political figures, of whom one or more are has-been political figures and one or more are hope-to-be political figures.

Regular readers of this blog should get 3 with some work, perhaps 4 this week (esp. certain female attendees at the Tory Conference), and political bloggers *may* get 5. I do not know how tall these people are, and Alex Hilton is not one of them.

One clue: Two are Lib Dems.

A second clue: One (of the 5) is Scottish.

The first answer with 4 gets a link. The first with 5 gets an advertising button for a month (I will be impressed).

  1. Ok, in for a penny. Gordon Brown, Nick Clegg, David Laws, the Tory bloke who used to be shadow chancellor and is MP for W Dorset (forget his name now -isn’t politics cruel?). And another Tory (deduced from the clues), though obviously not Hague or IDS. But seeing as I can’t enter anyway, I’m just posting this to show how ignorant some of your regular contributors are….. well, this one anyway.

How about a baldy show as well?

  2. Jmmm….

    1) Brown

    2) Dominic Grieves (I thinks)

    3) Curses, it has to be a lib dem…umm…hmmm…Ed Davey after a terrible hair transplant?

    4) Ed Balls

    5) Mark Pack?

  3. Hmmm. This is going to competely bugger up my prize regime. So links for everyone who enters .

    I’ll score this like Mastermind.

    David: No correct politicians.
Ben: One correct politician in the correct place. And 5 is not Mark Pack - that was a planned elephant trap.

    Matt

  4. [...] turned my Recess Monkey Cameron Gotcha post into a game of “spot the political [...]

  5. Hmmm
I definitely have 2, possibly 3 - but I am not going to show my hand just yet…

This is a lot harder than you might think Matt!!

  6. >This is a lot harder than you might think Matt!!

That’s why I turned it into Mastermind.

I suppose that is also an excuse for David C.

    Go on!

I’ll let this run for a bit before I comment further.

  7. ‘no correct politicians’ - are you talking about me or about the politicians?

David Keen’s last blog post..‘People Want to Know What Values You Bring’: Grave Dave Cameron’s Vision and Values

  8. @David Keen: None of your listed politicians are in the pictures.

  9. OK, I need more time. BUT so far, I reckon:

    1 - Mark Clarke
    2 - blogger/lib dem?!
    3 - Alastair Campbell
    4 - Ed Balls
    5 - Oliver Letwin

Too few Lib Dems and no blogger (unless you count Campbell as a blogger)

  10. Letwin, that’s the fellow I was trying to remember.

David Keen’s last blog post..‘People Want to Know What Values You Bring’: Grave Dave Cameron’s Vision and Values

  11. Garbo: You get Three Right Political Figures in the right slots, and you are nowhere with the other two. You are missing both Lib Dems.

I’ll ‘fess up the answers at midnight. Maybe :) .

[Update: Thinking about it - how did you do that, there aren't that many known Lib-Dems to choose from !] :) :)

    Matt

  12. 2 - Chris Huhne

    3 - Nick Clegg

  13. Oh no!!

    OK. Here we go:

    1 - Mark Clarke
    2 - Steve Webb
    3 - Nick Clegg
    4 - Ed Balls
    5 - Oliver Letwin

  14. Damn you Matt! Damn you and your quiz!! This has stumped me - I have jusr realised I have no Scot or has been… Alastair Campbell. So..:

    1 - Mark Clarke
    2 - Steve Webb
    3 - Alastair Campbell
    4 - Ed Balls
    5 - Oliver Letwin

One is still wrong though. I just can not get the other Lib Dem if 3 is not Clegg.

    Put me out my misery!

  15. I don’t see any bloggers in those last 2 lists.

    :-))).

    More clues at 11pm.

Perhaps one of them might be appearing in Question Time.

  16. Steve Webb - The Webb Blog

  17. >Perhaps one of them might be appearing in Question Time.

    Or perhaps not.

    .

    This is fun.

    A clue in 2 minutes.

  18. If that is charles kennedy i will eat my hat.

  19. OK. When you said:

    1 - Mark Clarke
    2 - blogger/lib dem?!
    3 - Alastair Campbell
    4 - Ed Balls
    5 - Oliver Letwin

1 (hope’s to be a politician - not showing too many signs of being good at PR :-),
    3 (Campbell - has been)
    4 (Balls)

2 is a blogger and who some people sometimes think is very famous.
    5 is a Lib Dem. A well-known Lib Dem.

    Matt

  20. I assume 1,3 & 4 are right.

5 - Lembit Opik before he went grey?

Buggered if I know the blogger!

  21. [...] I teased you with some political hairviews, and asked who they [...]

  22. Garbo>

    >I assume 1,3 & 4 are right.

    >5 - Lembit Opik before he went grey?

    >Buggered if I know the blogger!

Not bad, 4 out of 5.

I’ll be buggered when you find out.

  23. The answers are here.
