My Wordpress Dashboard has a Google Pagerank of 4
This is from my cabinet of search engine curiosities.
Google Pagerank is a measure of the “importance” of each page, but Google never gets to see my Wordpress Dashboard, and yet has given it a value.

The Google Toolbar is not the most reliable tool, but I can only see 2 possibilities here:
- That the Pagerank comes from links in to the Dashboard page - there is a “login” link on every page of the mattwardman.com website.
- That some of the contributors to the blog as well as me - there are about a dozen people who can post - may be using the Google toolbar, which is taken into account in some way.
Having said that, I will be applying a nofollow link to the “login” link very quickly - since Pagerank on the Dashboard is likely to be reducing that of all the pages that link to it.

Who knows why Google does anything Matt. My blog is ranked No 1 for the search term “Paul Linford” but the accompanying wording decribes it as “the weblog of Paul Linford, Labour activist from Belper, Derbyshire.” Not only do those words not appear anywhere on my blog, but I am not, and have never been, a member of the Labour Party.
Paul Linfords last blog post..Miliband must distance himself from Blair
@Paul Linford: My candid view is that Google does things to maximise Google’s revenue, while keeping the right side of regulations that exist.
I don’t think they prioritise ethics over revenue as much as some people think.
