Tax Freedom Day!

pound-coin

Today is Tax Freedom Day. The day we finally stop working just to pay the State our taxes [unless you include government borrowing - which adds another 12 days].

We have to work 155 days of the year just to pay the taxes that they levy on us. 40% of our national income goes straight in to the blackhole that is the government.

It never seems so large until it’s put that way, does it?

I just received my first full monthly pay slip. Until now, I had been paid weekly, but with the movement from a temp to a permanent employee, that all changed. And then I relaised just how much tax I was paying. It just never seemed so much when I got paid weekly.

Bastards taking so much of the money I earn!

Utter bastards.

  1. Dreadful isn’t it, and having to put up with free health treatment, free education for our kids, a police force you don’t have to bribe, decent roads, etc. etc. What has the government ever done for us?

You’ll be emigrating soon then..? ;-)

  2. If you think that what we get is value for money, then you’re an idiot. Because it’s not.

Paying tax is fine. Paying so much for so little [in comparison] is not.

  3. Partial idiot: some of it is value for money, some of it isn’t. One my kids is at a good state primary school, the other just had excellent, and very quick, treatment at our local NHs hospital for a broken arm.

At the same time there seem to be thousands of non-jobs pursuing silly New Labourspeak targets, and the waste of time and money that is the ID card system.

And we get Child Tax Credit too. So I’m not going to bite the hand that feeds am I….?!!
