Ouch !

Personally I'd take the Reagan airline pilots approach and bugger the inconvenience for 6 months.

I see a parallel between the people running the transport system not having to pay for travelling, and MPs having their "unauthorised under £25" expenses system while we have the Inland Revenue saying things like "anything of £10 or more on your Bank Statements for the last x years that you cannot justify on a line by line basis will be treated as taxable income and you will be taxed on it". (Statement made to friend in random investigation.)

Consistency between the governers and the governed needs to be a basic principle. Everywhere.
