The Wardman Wire

Like James Bond - but not yet Owen Glyndower - Ordovicius is back. By my count, Sanddef has done seven posts in two days.

One of these included this photo of Mr Gordon, which reminds me of a TV character but I can’t quite decide who.

On reflection, I think it is the prominent and incisive chin that has shades of prominent, incisive and fictitious investigators.

Two examples: Steve McGarrett and Rockford (ignore the sideburns):

On the subject of chins, Edward Lear said:

There was a Young Lady whose chin,
Resembled the point of a pin;
So she had it made sharp, and purchased a harp,
And played several tunes with her chin.

And since we are on harps, here is an angel with a fiddle who would perhaps prefer to be playing one. The chin is still similar to the Prime Minister’s however. Details in stained glass windows are marvellous. This one is - I think - in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

If I didn’t know better, I would say the angel was an ancestor of Sir Simon Rattle. The resemblance is uncanny, and Sir Simon’s chin is also worryingly close to Mr Gordon’s.
