Glitch in the System. Now Back.

We had a technical glitch this morning that took the site down.

Apologies. We are now back again.

For those interested, a cache program storage directory had been deleted (no idea how), so the cache program couldn’t find it and fell over. A cache is used to store web pages that don’t change on disk, so that they don’t need to be recreated from the database - saving on computer time.

I just had to recreate the directory, it can now find it, and is a happy cache program once again.

If only politics could be fixed mended so easily.

Thanks to Simon Barrow for the tip-off.
