I’m a Muslim women
and i reject your cartoon about us.
We are NOT wearing “Abia”=the black clothe up our body.
for FUN..
it’s some thing in our religion.
and I think you should read about this thing in our religion before you post any thing ,, you don’t know ..What is means?!!
Thanks for the comment, and you are of course free to reject any cartoon.
I am well enough versed in Islam to know that the “requirement” to wear a full Burkha is cultural rather than required by the Quran, which requires “modesty” - and that is quite validly interpreted differently in different places.
As I see this cartoon, it is a different view on the idea that a particular style of clothing should be interpreted as required - particularly as the requirement is imposed across universally in some societies, rather than accepting the Quranic teaching that many aspects of Islam are for the individual to interpret as they see fit according to their own conscience.
I think that the point that an “interlocuter is placed at a disadvantage” is a good one.
The entire cartoon strip was started as a protest against attempts to close down public debate because some Muslims argued that they “were offended”. I don’t accept that argument as valid. Rather than causing people to be offended, I think that this cartoon should drive them to reflect on the meaning of their own religious practices - and as such I am willing to publish it.
But - thanks again for the comment.
Hello again.
In my last comment, I just want you attention to the Burkha is a kind of The Abia,,,,
you said “it is cultural rather than required by the Quran,”
All we know the Burkha is invented by our culture, but the did that because the role of our religion.
and there are a lot of subjects in the Qura’n , pushing us to be more decency..
( sorry for my weak language.I’m still studying )
It will be my pleasure to send to you any things about the Hijab.
