Introducing the Senedd Circular, and Jenny Willott MP makes a Splash
Earlier I posted that we were That is confirmed, and we should have our first real Senedd Circular report posted next Thursday.
This has now been confirmed, and we will be rolling from next week.
You can find out more about Miss Wagstaffe on her blog.
Why “Circular”?
The official reason is that it is a Newsletter and the Senedd Chamber is circular.
You may not believe me, but it has nothing to do with 8.3% pay increases and fatcat (i.e., circular) AMs. Nor does it have anything to do with extra-large AMs after too many political lunches.
However, we now have a third reason, and it because of a publicity stunt by Jenny Willott MP (LibDem Welsh Affairs at Westminster) following on from Heather Mills throwing a jug of water over Paul McCartney’s lawyer Fiona Shackleton. Ms Willott responded to BBC correspondent David Cornock’s fishing expedition, after Glyn Davies made a “wet hair” joke.
Meanwhile, Glyn Davies told the BBC to take a running jump when they tried to get him on Radio Wales about his blog post. Good call. There are more important things around, such as Tibet / China and the continuing assault on our Civil Liberties (on which I’m happy to acknowledge excellent work by the Lib Dems).
Ever Declining Circles
Ms Willott (Lib Dem MP for Cardiff Central) seems to me to have made a somewhat comprehensive arse of herself by going all “Patricia Hewitt” on the BBC. So I am proud to officially credit the “Senedd Circular” name to Ms Willott’s “intemperate reaction to humourous comment in jug-of-water-gate”, in recognition of the ever decreasing circles in which she is moving with this story.

Making a Splash
If she HAD to make a splash about jug-of-water-gate, surely the focus should be on calling for the prosecution of Heather Mills for assault with a jug of water in a legal setting. After all, they have:
- Evidence (photos and film).
- An admission from the protagonist La Mills herself (quote from Daily Mail):
Heather Mills is intensifying her bitter war with her husband’s divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton.
Having thrown a jug of water over Mrs Shackleton at the High Court yesterday, Miss Mills is now threatening to report her to the Law Society for professional misconduct over allegations that she called her names.
Miss Mills threw water over her former husband’s lawyer and then laughingly announced that she had been “baptised in court.”
An open and shut case?
On the other hand, one shouldn’t feed self-publicity trolls.
However, as a reader of the BBC Wales website whenever I do a Daily Roundup - I do feel a certain sympathy for their pressing need for stories.
