European Parliament Campaign

Via Jon Worth:

Have you signed oneseat.eu - the petition to abolish the Strasbourg seat? A very good initiative.

The OneSeat Campaign aims to prevent the European Parliament travelling between Brussels and Strasbourg like the Court of King Caractacus, at a cost of around £120m per year.

Go there and sign. You know it makes sense.

And, since you didn’t ask:

Sorry. Very cruel for a Friday morning.

One Response to “European Parliament Campaign”

  1. This is a wonderful, wonderful idea with only one problem; they’re trying to abolish the wrong seat. Strasbourg is much nicer than Brussels. Sorry to the Bruxellois, but it’s true.

Actually, that might be an argument for keeping it in Brussels. There’s also an excellent chocolatier (Pierre Marcolini, three times gold medallist at the World Patisserie Olympics) on the Avenue Louise.

I’ve said in the past that the only way to avoid arguments about which country gets the benefits of having bits of Europe located in them is to move the whole kit and caboodle to Switzerland. It would be a very… European compromise.

    xD.
