Garbo appoints Blogger of the Week
Garbo over at the Poliblogs is starting a new “Blogger of the Week” feature.
This week he introduces a Lib Dem blogger I have not heard of previously, Anders Hanson.
I like the local nature of Anders’ Best Political Moment of 2007:
The best political moment of 2007
This is actually a difficult one as much of what I do politically is fairly run of the mill and mundane, and of the highs it is difficult to pick one over the other. So here is a selection of three.
The first is the local elections in Sheffield where the Lib Dems managed to gain four seats, (three from Labour and one from the Conservatives), all of which were great for different reasons. All of the seats we gained had candidates that were both competent and lovely people. Some were people who have tried to get elected before and failed, so it was to see them elected at last.
He has 2nd and 3rd places too.
If I had to nominate my best political moment, it would be the progress of Independent Councillors in the East Midlands, particularly the Independent Mayor of Mansfield being re-elected and the near clean sweep of Boston Council by the Boston Bypass Independents group.
For a Lib Dem around it here it would be the swing in a by-election in Ashfield of more than 50%.
I have to admit - and this will get me into trouble - that as soon as I saw the logo above I immediately (within 2 seconds) thought, “Aha. That’s the sun shining from somewhere.” And it has to be admitted that that is a singularly appropriate concept for some politicians (of all parties). Or perhaps I am just naturally scatological (there goes the “U” rating for this blog).

Thanks for plug Matt.
The logo is most definitely a temporary one! Though your imagination is far more “wandering” than mine!
… you’ve shamed me in to sorting this out quicker than I otherwise might have! I have changed the logo… if anyone wants to donate a better one I will be very grateful! I will, however, be sticking with the new one for now otherwise.

I like the new logo.
Matt
Phew. It doesn’t have undertones of anything seedy and unpleasant, I hope!
Er … isn’t it an award for a political blog?
