Conservative Blog Aggregator Launched in Beta
I have just turned on a new blog aggregator for Conservative Party affiliated blogs, toryblogs.org.uk.
This is intended as a move towards filling the gap left by the Rightlinks site, which was withdrawn in late spring 2007, and it is in the same niche as bloggers4labour.org and libdemblogs.co.uk. The Wardman Wire, for example, is basically Centre-Right but not party affiliated - so that will not be included in this site.
It’s one thing to run an aggregator with 60 or 80 feeds from the Welsh or Scottish political blogosphere. Checking 250 or 300 Conservative blog feeds regularly is a different matter, and I am watching the load on my server.
Both the feed and the front page will be set to display excerpts from 50 posts.
So I’m taking it gently, and will build up the numbers quite slowly.
At present the site is aggregating slightly under 100 blogs, and it may take a day or so for the aggregator to stabilise (i.e., for all the posts to be appearing from the correct places in the correct order) - if, for example, a blog’s feed is inaccessible and reappears tomorrow.
Comments are welcome.
