In Praise of Zaftig

Ruthie Zaftig writes one of the personal blogs that I enjoy most.

Her latest post is a straight quote from Thomas Jefferson:

“Our liberty cannot be guarded but by the freedom of the press, nor that be limited without danger of losing it.”

“Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.”

Quite.

And Here’s a Ruthie Friday afternoon Grab bag:

Pop over and visit - you won’t regret it.

The second quotation is from 1787, the first from 1792.

But now read this from 1807:
“The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them; inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehood and errors.”

Interesting, would you agree? :)

Pleasure. Though according to me it was only 40 clicks so far (working on that ), with “Crappy Driver” being the top.

On that basis I will no longer be reading your blog….

Yes, she’s one of the best. But so are you in a different genre.
