Chris Vallance wants customer feedback on Radio 5 Pods and Blogs

Chris Vallance - the Radio 5 Podcast Guru - is looking for feedback as to how they can improve the “interactivity” of the Pods and Blogs.

Here are my top 7 suggestions for Chris (one or two are tongue in cheek):

  1. Don’t broadcast the programme at 2:30am on Tuesday morning.
  2. Stand aloof from the “Daily Express”-isation of Radio 5.
  3. To increase interactivity, break the show up into separate items and post them among the shownotes on the blog.
  4. In the full download, it would be useful to have “bookmarks” at the start of each item. I am not sure whether that is possible in MP3s.
  5. Explain how people can directly link to random points in the podcast - so that people cans start to link to XX:YY minutes/seconds in from other blogs. That is certainly possible (IT Conversations have had it since 2005 - albeit with custom technology). Can the BBC do that?
  6. If you are serious about letting other people remix your programmes, they need to be available in a non-lossy format (e.g., .wav). MP3 is not suitable for those purposes.
  7. Could you build a flash sound recording facility directly into the blog ,so that listeners can make direct audio comments? Possibly this could be done using a Third-Party hosted Audioblogging Service.

Why not visit Chris and give him your own feedback.
