Prime Minister’s Questions Podcast – Donation-Gate: 28 November 2007

Bearing in mind the febrile and fluid state of politics about Labour’s funding operation, I thought I would post today’s Prime Minister’s Questions as an extra Politics Podcast.

I thought I would post another bonus podcast of Prime Minister’s Questions for 28 November 2007.

I have left a few minutes analysis on the end from the BBC News 24 team.

The best line in Prime Minister’s Questions came from Vince Cable for the Lib Dems:

The Prime Minister has changed from Stalin to Mr Bean, bringing chaos out of order.

And in answer to the question about defence spending, we have an exhibition of straightforward deceipt from Gordon Brown, claiming the second largest defence budget in the world on the basis of cash comparisons. He knows full well that his own government make their routine comparisons on the basis of purchasing power parity, and that that will give a very different answer.

Based on the statement that has come from Jon Mendelsohn, it seems that he and most of the leadership are all attempting to blame it on ex-General Secretary Peter Watt – while attempting to maintain that they were all in profound ignorance of the way that fundraising worked in their own party after a huge criminal investigation into precisely that area of politics.

I don’t believe a word of it: I think they are pretty much all lying in their different ways.

The Daily Politics is reporting that Chris Huhne has written to Sir Ian Blair asking him to open a police enquiry. Good man.
