New Writers and a New Column on the Wardman Wire: Announcement

I’ve mentioned a couple of times that the Wardman Wire is moving towards having a wider range of contributors, to give better coverage of our various niches.

You’ll be seeing a couple of new names, that you may know from elsewhere. Can I put out a plea to readers to be aware which of our writers you are reading, and not put everything down to me. I don’t necessarily agree with everything they say, and may in fact write a post explaining why that is from time to time. To me, that it what a group blog is about.

Let me introduce the new contributors without further ado.

Ordovicius

Sanddef Rhyferys blogs (very) frequently at the web address this-is-sparta.blogspot.com. Ordovicius started blogging around the same time I did, and has published 1250 posts since March 2007, in comparison with my mere 800.

Sanddef will be posting here from time to time when he published an article that is of particular interest to the different (less specifically Welsh) audience that reads this blog.

Since I started I have tried to provide coverage of Welsh politics, and this is an opportunity to improve that coverage, and also to facilitate a wider debate and awareness around Welsh political questions.

The Thunderdragon

The Thunderdragon is a young conservative activist from London, who writes his own eclectic blog. He will be writing a weekly column the the Wardman Wire, and the first article will be appearing at 11:30am today, under the title “Hot Issue“.

For his first column the Dragon looks at the coverage of the Nigel Hastilow / Enoch Powell story. The Dragon wrote his undergraduate thesis on the subject:

“Enoch Powell: was he racist? Race, Nationalism, Immigration and the ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech”

so - whether you agree with his conclusion or not - he has done the homework.

Hot Issue Column Details

This is a new section on the Wardman Wire. Each week, hopefully to be usually posted on every Friday morning, there will be a post on the biggest political issue of the past week.

We hope to provide a background summary of the issue, links to opinion both from the media and blogs, and some measure of examination on what effect this has had on the wider political situation. It is also intended to help keep dialog going between different sections of the blogosphere, so will deliberately link to different political complexions of blog.

The Column is aimed squarely at the “sod work it’s Friday lunchtime/afternoon” audience, and is intended as an “story based” roundup to provide an alternative to the proliferation of “blog roundups” that have sprung up in the last 4 months.

I hope you find it enjoyable and provocative.
