Usmanov and Friends - Mr Eugenides and BBC Libel Expert interviewed on Radio 5:: Britblog Roundup #136 Audio Podcast
This is a very special roundup, consisting of an extended (25 minutes) studion discussion about the action by Mr Alisher Usmanov and Shillings Lawyers which has resulted in the removal of a number of important blogs from the Internet without warning.
The participants look at a number of issues, including:
- The state of UK libel law.
- How isps can be compelled to remove content, whether an offence has been committed or not.
- The risks to bloggers.
- The precise sequence of events leading up to the removal of bloggerheads.com, boris-johnson.com and other sites from the Internet. For one “Takedown notice”, the webmaster only received 15 minutes notice.
