Silly Season: Lib Dem Voice Conducts an Opinion Poll on whether to cover Opinion Polls
“
Taking ourselves a little bit too seriously” item of the day: Lib Dem Voice is asking its readers whether they want more punditry:
I wonder, is it nearly August?
Anyway, in the spirit of the occasion, I am proud to present an opinion poll about whether Lib Dem Voice should hold an opinion poll to decide whether Lib Dem Voice should report opinion polls:
[poll=5]
I solemnly promise that there will be no more opinion polls on this blog until at least the start of August.
Nice quote from the article:
The best, and usually pretty impartial, analysis of the polls is written by Tory activist Anthony Wells, over at YouGov’s UK Polling Report blog.
I agree, but I think that automatically sticking a tribal label on an analyst when he’s doing it professionally and objectively is something we all need to move beyond. Fair enough it was a biased analysis, but it says that it isn’t biased.
Wrapping-Up
My opinion: save yourself the time of writing the reports, unless you have someone really good salivating to do it. Syndicate the feed from the UK Polling Report (and allow comments on it if you must).
Spend the time on policy or reporting content. It will add more value.
