Politics-Wales Aggregator Launched in Beta

q-icon-walsh-dragonA quick and quiet announcement that another regional blog aggregator has gone live as a Beta test site.

I made politics-wales.co.uk live last night.

The RSS feed address is:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/politics-wales

The feed and the site are still subject to fairly major change, but these addresses will stay constant. At present the selection of feeds is based on about 50 from the sidebars of various blogs. Changes will include:

  • Time to settle. RSS Aggregators are like that.
  • Possible removal (or at least separation) of Welsh feeds. There is already a Welsh blog aggregator and Views on this will be welcome. If I am to keep Welsh feeds in the site, I may need a second editor.
  • Adjustment of feed selection.
  • I’m having a few problems getting summaries through on RSS Feeds. As yet, I have not tracked it down.
  • The Wardman Wire feed needs to be restricted to the “Wales” category.

So, feel free to visit and comment here - subject to the comments above.

If you have feeds you feel should be in the aggregator, please comment below. The criteria are:

  • 60-70% or more politics.
  • Been established for sufficient time (roughly 3 months or 100 posts).

Or alternatively that I like it.

Somebody’s done something already, because according to my feedburner stats, there are have already been 20 subscribers.

I’d be willing to edit Welsh feeds, but I don’t think you need worry overly as to their content. At the moment you have Vaughan Roderick, the BBC Cymru political thingy, then when you add the politicians you’ll find the odd post by Adam Price written exclusively in Welsh, and bilingual posts by Bethan Jenkins. All quite respectable as regards content. The only other Welsh language political blogs that spring to mind are Hen Rech Flin and Annibyniaeth i Gymru. There are other bloggers such as myself who occasionally blog about politics in Welsh on our Welsh language blogs, but those blogs themselves are not ones that concentrate exclusively on politics as in the case of the two I just mentioned.

I think having them on the aggregator is a very good idea and reflects the bilingual nature of Wales and Welsh politics.

PS Can I blog about this yet?

“I think having them on the aggregator is a very good idea and reflects the bilingual nature of Wales and Welsh politics.”

I second that.

Great Idea. Also second the bilingual idea. Welsh and English test exists side-by-side in Wales and even us impoverished monoglots want it that way.

Would it be pushy to ask for my humble blogette to be added?
