Roundup of Political Stories – Gaming Alexa Project
![]()
Over the next couple of weeks I’m doing an experiment to see if it possible to “Game” the Alexa website ranking service. Alexa is a service which aims to rank websites by traffic and popularity.
This is today’s roundup. I need a couple of people to click on each article to visit the websites, and that should do it. I’ll be visiting each article once myself – Alexa only counts one per day anyway.
This exercise has interest from Sam Coutts of Conservative Home, and Jag Singh of Labour Home – so let’s see how we go.
[Edit 26/6 PM: Editing this article is causing me problems, and something is breaking the template - so it will display strangely on the single post view (sidebars go to the bottom). I will have a look at this later - I need to do some job applications now. My apologies for any inconvenience.]
[Edit: this is now apparently fixed].
Articles for Today – Follow the Links
Conservative Home has an article about immigration and Darfur:
When former Archbishops start calling for stricter controls on immigration you know something is up.
Labour Home has gone all messianic:
As the Labour Party staggers blinking and wavering into a new dawn, it appears that yes… the sun will in fact rise again tomorrow. Brown’s first speech today as a leader of the Labour Party, and the election of Harriet Harman was a stirring moment.
Lib Dem Voice is speculating about a double by-election:
Rumours abound that Tony Blair will announce his resignation as an MP this week, triggering a by-election in Sedgefield to be held on the same day as the by-election in Ealing Southall.
The Conservative Party have David Cameron calling on Brown to stage EU treaty referendum:
David Cameron has called on incoming Prime Minister Gordon Brown to stage a referendum on the new EU Treaty, after accusing Tony Blair of handing over power to Brussels “without the permission of the British people”.
The Labour Party say that more 16 year olds are staying in school :
Record numbers of 16 year olds are now in full-time education – more than three-quarters – and close to 9 in 10 are in some form of education and training.
The Lib Dem Party suggest that problem drinking is caused by Shaun the Sheep:”
Ministers must tackle problem drinking at its source – Lamb .
The Liberal Democrats have highlighted the problem of shops selling alcohol to underage people in response to new figures.”Poor Shaun – becoming a political football like that.
And Recess Monkey goes through extensive contortions to imply that Arleen Ouzounian is scum. My comment? NUTS !!.
The Cameroonies at the Kings College London Conservative Society blog offer thoughtful condolences to the family of MP Piara Khabra, who died this week aged 82
Which is a bit funny, because the first time I looked at their blog, the condolences were not there – and in their place was a message containing the term “Christmas come earlyâ€.
The author of this piece was one Arleen Ouzounian, Deputy Chaiman (sic) of CFUK Ealing.
There’ll be another roundup tomorrow lunchtime.
