Announcements, Blog Changes and Monetising Your Political Blog
There hasn’t been much blogging on here today, because I have been up to my elbows in technicalities and Cascading Style Sheets. Eventually I lost my temper, and did the “RSS Feeds” layout with a traditional table (naughty Matt !).
Changes on the Wardman Wire
- I have sorted my RSS feeds out properly, added a “subscribe by email” option and made the RSS feeds more prominent.
- I have switched the site search to Google rather than the native Wordpress, as that should give more flexibility.
Added an affiliate link for Text Link Ads on the right. Incidentally, if you are looking to advertise, they will give you $100 worth of free ads. The button is an affiliate link.
Advert Sale
I have also sold my first advert. There is a “Post Level Text Link” ad on the “Sexual Orientation Regulations Video Archive” article, which will bring in a massive $5 a month or so. However, every little helps.
So I will 3 weeks and buy myself a pint of beer (that is, bitter).
And, no, Lager is NOT Beer. I do not care whether the USA, Canada, the Australians, the Germans, the Oxford English Dictionary and the EU may have a different view – if they do, they are wrong.
Note that these Post Level Ads are flagged up by the phrase “Related Links“. This was too similar to the “Related Posts” I used to point to articles on similar subjects, so I have changed “Related Posts” to “Related Articles“.
If you have any questions, please ask in the comments below.
Imminent Postings
Today I was aiming to post about these topics:
- I owe a response to Paul Leake who made an excellent comment on an article from March about Trade Union Political Affiliation.
- On the same subject, I wonder about the objectivity of the Commons Treasury Committee investigating Private Equity when a majority of the members of the committee writing the report – at least 8 out of 14 – are members of Trades Unions which are spearheading the campaign.
- The “Got to Be Gordon” meme has also been taking off again, so I owe those who have taken the trouble to contribute a summary and a link.
I’ll get around to these, but it will be late evening.
Incidentally, has anyone written any articles about Monetising UK Political Blogs in a way that does not interfere with the readers’ enjoyment? I’d be interested if you know of any such articles.
