How to Download Web Files Directly

logo-operaHow often have you wanted to downlaod a file to your local PC that your web browser insists on displaying, and then fails to display properly?

If you have time, or want to make a permanent change - you can do this by changing the configuration of your web browser. This may involve messing about with file associations or “helper applications“.

If you want to download a file directly, or don’t want to make a permanent change - get a copy of the Opera web browser.

Opera has a facility to do a direct download of a file, “Quick download“, from the File Transfer screen, as shown below:

This screen is accessed via the Transfers option of the Tools menu, or by the <CTRL-ALT-T> shortcut key.

Easy.
