Whinging at the BBC

I’m, writing this in the middle of the Ireland - New Zealand World Cup Super 8 (translation: second group stage) cricket match.

I’m not an Australian, which would entitle me to whinge while calling it something else, but why - as a listener in the UK - when I listen to BBC Radio 5 Live Extra via the BBC Radio Player do I hear this (basically: we are not allowed to stream the world cup):

Fact: the BBC do holds the rights. If I listen to BBC Radio 5 Live Extra via the Sport Section of the website I get:

What gives, Beeb? Why are you making an untrue statement in one part of the website, and doing precisely the thing you deny elsewhere?

Because they’re a bunch of idiots who think you are an idiot? I do hope you’re able to get good coverage though.

Funny thing - we Aussies feel the Brits are the ones who whinge while calling it something else.

My guess is that they only have the “restrict by country” technology on the server for the Sports streams, and not on the servers doing the streaming for the “general” radio stations.

Over here, Punter blew that with his rant about substitute fielders in 2005.

Cheers for the visit. Matt
