Sexual Orientation Regulations: Archive of CCTV Demo Promotional Video
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
In the last few days there has been some controversy about a video posted to Youtube, which was used in a campaign against the new UK Sexual Orientation Regulations .
The video has been removed, but I have decided to post a copy here. Image acknowledgement: Chloe Douglass :
The Video
[Note about video content added 30/3/2007]
I note that at least one response has appeared on Youtube, which appears to take the video content as a factual report. Rather, the video iteslf is a simulation of a situation that it is claimed will exist at some point in the future in English schools if the Sexual Orientation Regulations are put into force.
Downloadable Video Files
[Updated 29/3/2007 with video files]

a) – (Try this MP4 first) Download as MP4 file (.mp4) -4 Mb.
b) – (Try this MP4 second) Download as MP4 file (.mp4) -20 Mb.
The Events
1 – The video was created, posted on Youtube, used to promote a campaign against the Sexual Orientation Regulations and then withdrawn anonymously.
2 – Regardless of the video’s content, I think that material used in a public campaign should be available for the public to see in the future.
Tim Ireland has all the detail of the events posted on his blog. The anonymous author has posted the video, used it in a campaign and then attempted to withdraw it.
My View
In principle, I have some sympathy with the church-based organisations who think that they are being forced to act against their consciences – on the basis of freedom of their speech and freedom of conscience, which are being restricted.
However, I also think that that material used in a debate should be in the open in an open society, so I am posting this video here.
Warning: some may find that the content of this video causes you to experience elevated blood pressure.
In this posting I have called the video “The CCTV Video” (CCTV: Christian Congress for Traditional Values, as it appeared on the CCTV Channel on Youtube.
[Update: 3/4/2007. To date around 40 videos have been downloaded from this page. I will leave the inks in place permanently].
