The Wardman Wire

It seems to me that the best way to set goals for a blog is to set them, leave them, work my socks off, and then to check back an appreciable interval later. Here, I’ll at look at someone else’s stats, them comment on my own goals.

Example Stats - Daily Blog Tips

Over at Daily Blog Tips, Daniel reported these stats three months after starting:

I think that numbers always help to give a clear picture to the reader about what is going on, hence why I will try to review my numbers every quarter or so ( a big “thank you” for everyone reading and supporting the blog).

Daily unique visitors: 1270 (average for the last 3 weeks)
Daily page views: 4320 (average for the last 3 weeks)
RSS subscribers: 454
Alexa rank: 111,212
Technorati rank: 22,102

By mid April, the Technorati rank was up to 2328 - which shows very high interlinking.

Interestingly, the Google Page Rank is still only 4 - which implies that Google places a high value on longevity. 5 months is not enough, it seems.

This blog has been started as a side-interest between contracts, so I’m just going to set WIBNI goals (Wouldn’t it be nice if…). These goals are VERY Wouldn’t it be nice if…

I’m using Technorati Rank, as that depends on Backlinks form other blogs.

I’ll try and revisit this post at the end of April with an update.

I’m also burying it at a date in late March so that only anoraks will find it.
